Who runs Brewkit
Brewkit is an independent espresso and coffee-gear review site. It’s run by Ricky Poon, the site’s editor and lead reviewer. Every machine, grinder, and accessory covered on this site is researched from spec sheets, manufacturer documentation, and public owner reports, then cross-checked against measured brew data (dose, yield, extraction time, TDS where equipment allows) recorded during testing and comparison write-ups.
Brewkit started in September 2026 because most espresso buying guides online repeat the same unverified spec-sheet copy without any original brewing data behind it. This site exists to fix that: every review states what was actually measured, what’s estimated from manufacturer data, and what’s simply unknown — rather than presenting a guess as a fact.
How reviews are built
- Specs and claims are sourced from manufacturer documentation and cross-checked against multiple independent listings before publishing.
- Where original brew data (ratios, extraction yield, TDS, timing) is presented, it is clearly labeled as such — distinct from manufacturer-stated specs.
- Every article states its evidence basis: measured, manufacturer-sourced, or estimated. We do not present a guess as a verified fact.
- Reviews are updated when new information, pricing, or model changes affect the guidance.
